Design of a Mips Instruction Set Simulator for Multicore Processor Research in Systemc

The main focus of this thesis is to design a MIPS Instruction Set Simulator (ISS) for multicore computer architecture research. This MIPS ISS is tested thoroughly for each instruction and by long test benches. Usual ISS works in a purely functional way unlike real hardware, this ISS is designed at a level more abstract than RTL but closer to real processor which will be easy to interface with other cores, caches and micro-architectural parts.School of Electrical & Computer Engineerin

EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF METHOTREXATE IN CHRONIC ACTINIC DERMATITIS: A PILOT STUDY

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of methotrexate in chronic actinic dermatitis. METHODS: Clinically and biopsy proven cases of chronic actinic dermatitis were included in study after fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Patients were given methotrexate according to protocol and efficacy was noted according to improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score. Side effects were noted for safety evaluation. RESULTS: A total of thirty patients, 27 male and 3 females, with a mean age of 57.5±9.91 years, were included in study. Duration of disease was 10 years in 6 patients. Twenty seven patients received 10mg and 3 patients received dose of 15mg.Twenty nine patients completed 6 months of methotrexate therapy. One patient stopped treatment because of mild gastrointestinal side effects and deranged Liver Function Tests (LFTs). SGPT was 3 time above normal when treatment was stopped. Patients were evaluated at 1st week, 4th week and monthly for 6 months. Six patients (20%) showed complete recovery, 13(43%) showed 50-75% recovery, 7 (23%) showed 25-49% recovery while rest showed no improvement. Means of initial and final PASI score showed significant results with P<0.0001. The clinical response to treatment was observed at 4-6 weeks which reached to maximum in 4-6 months. CONCLUSION: We found methotrexate to be a potentially efficacious and safe drug in the treatment and asteroid sparing drug in chronic actinic dermatitis

Identification of Virulent Agrobacterium tumefaciens Strains from some Dicotyledonous Plants in Bangladesh

Wild type virulent Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains viz. AtTp0120, AtTe0121, AtMo0122 and AtMi0123 (accession number was given according to their respective host plants) were identifi ed from four dicot plants viz. Tagetes patula, Tagetes erecta, Moringa oleifera and Mangifera indica, respectively, of Rajshahi University campus, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Isolated strains were confirmed as A. tumefaciens on the basis of their morphological, physiological and biochemical features, antibiotic sensitivity, phytopathogenicity tests, and agarose gel analysis of plasmid DNA in comparing with type strian of A. tumefaciens (ATCC23308T). Supported by statistical analysis of the number of induced tumors in potato disc strain AtTp0120 from Tagetes patula was identified as more virulent than the other isolates

Custom - made ocular prosthesis: A novel way of iris positioning: Case report

Loss of any part from the maxillofacial region can have traumatic impact on the psychology of an individual. A prime role in facial expression is played by the eyes and tissues around it. A missing eye can be rehabilitated prosthetically. The main aim is to achieve adequate esthetic and function with rehabilitation to improve lifestyle and social acceptance. The ocular prosthesis can be a stock eye shell or custom-made eye. Exact matching of the contralateral eye is of utmost importance. Here a novel way of iris positing has been done. Thus, this case report presents a unique technique for the fabrication of a custom-made unilateral ocular prosthesis
